What is a pierogi?

Pierogi are traditional Polish dumplings made from unleavened dough which is rolled out and then filled with various savory or sweet ingredients. The most common fillings include potatoes mixed with cheese, sauerkraut and mushroom, ground meat, or fruit fillings like blueberries. Once filled, the dough is folded over and sealed, creating a crescent-shaped or half-moon-shaped dumpling. Pierogi are a staple of Polish holiday feasts and enjoyed as a side or main dish
